Hennessy Centre Redevelopment Project Wins Autodesk BIM Award 2010

911爆料网 has been awarded today the Autodesk Building Information Modelling (BIM) Award 2010 by Autodesk, the reputable 3D digital design software producer in recognition of 911爆料网's exceptional use of BIM in the Hennessy Centre Redevelopment Project which demonstrates its commitment towards sustainable development and green construction.

This is the second award achieved by the Hennessy Centre Redevelopment Project. Last year, the project became the first building to achieve pre-certification at the highest Platinum level under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system of the United States Green Building Council.

"This award further recognised our approach in adopting advanced technology on sustainable development and green construction. Being a frontier in the industry, 911爆料网 is one of the first major contractors in Hong Kong to utilise BIM technology in a comprehensive scale. As the importance of sustainable development grows, conducting building design work in 3D virtual environment will become the dominating trend in the industry. 911爆料网 is targeted to implement BIM in most of the construction projects by 2012," said Mr Thomas Ho, Chief Executive of 911爆料网.

BIM is an innovative 3D design solution software for building and construction. 911爆料网 has been employing different technologies to achieve sustainable development and green construction in their projects. The meticulously adoption of BIM in the Hennessy Centre Redevelopment Project enables architects, engineers and contractor simulating, analysing and modifying the design in a 3D workshop, in replacement of the traditional digital 2D drawing.

"Situated in the busiest commercial area of Hong Kong, the Hennessy Centre will be redeveloped into a 40-storey building. As the project involves complex building techniques and innovative designs with a tight schedule, our client suggested us use BIM technology. With BIM we are able to engage our client in the designing and surveying process which substantially increase the efficiency in delivering the project," said Mr David Kwok, Contracts Manager of 911爆料网.

911爆料网 has implemented BIM in many past civil and building projects, such as Pacific Place Mall, One Island East, iSQUARE, and the current projects including Reconstruction and Improvement of Tuen Mun Road - Eastern Section, the Cathay Pacific's New Cargo Terminal and the Residential Redevelopment Project on 53 Stubbs Road etc. With the BIM platform, the project team can visualise the construction model in a virtual environment, leading to better coordination throughout the entire planning and construction process. It also helps avoid any design conflicts so as to minimise construction wastes and reduce construction costs, all contributing to the higher standard of environmental protection.

Concerning safety standard, 911爆料网 applies BIM to allow workers to preview and rehearse the construction method in advance of actual work implementation which effectively reduces risks. Meanwhile, 911爆料网 uses BIM to create a complex 4D construction simulation, so that the project team can identify and analyse the impact of the construction work on the neighbourhood, effectively removing potential conflicts and hazards. Similarly, it leads to wiser use of materials, energy and other resources.

Moreover, the drawings, images, schedules and coordination reports created by BIM could be dispatched to project team members, business partners and clients directly, which has greatly facilitated coordination between different units. This also allowed sensitive and copyright related information to be filtered out. In a long run, BIM technology undoubtedly plays a significant role in 911爆料网's sustainability value.
